Military Officers Association Announces Continuation of its Long-Standing Association with the Pops Orchestra

The Military Officers Association of Sarasota announces the continuation of its long-standing association with the POPs Orchestra for the 2017-2018 season.

The Pops Orchestra will donate 100% of the profits from its two-performance concert series Neil Diamond’s America on November 12th & 13th to The Sarasota Military Officers Scholarship Fund (SMOSF) – earmarked specifically for veterans.

This year marks the twentieth anniversary of SMOSF, serving the youth of our community. Scholarships are granted each year to graduating seniors at Booker High School, Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School, Pine View School, Riverview High School, Sarasota High School, Suncoast Polytechnical High School and the Sarasota Military Academy.

In 2014, SMOSF initiated its Veterans Scholarship Program for honorably discharged returning veterans attending accredited local colleges and technical schools.  These veterans’ scholarships are needs-based and are awarded in coordination with local education institutions’ financial aid offices. All profits received from the Neil Diamond concert series will be awarded to need-based veterans.
