Dear fellow MOAS regular member; auxiliary member; associate member and spouses of the aforementioned members;
I am communicating with you in my role as the Chair of the Nominating Committee, which is charged with the responsibility of recommending officers and directors of our chapter for the years 2015 – 2016. Your chapter and I need your help.
It has been my and others observations that the healthiest organizations are those in which the majority of the persons in the organization actively participate in its operations and activities. Your Sarasota MOAA chapter has been awarded Five-Star Level of Excellence status for multiple years because of its programs, activities and actions by its members. But if we are to continue receiving such honors in the future, and support our extremely important goals and objectives, we need to encourage more membership participation and increase the number and breadth of candidates for succession to the officer and director positions in our organization.
You will note in my salutation that I have addressed not only regular members, but auxiliary and associate members and spouses. There is a lot of latent talent to be found in auxiliary and associate members and spouses - we want to tap that talent. All of you qualify to participate as committee members in an area of your personal expertise or interest. Areas of interest that you may wish to consider are listed below.
· Scholarships· Fund-Raising· Legislative· Marketing/Publicity· Membership· Personal Affairs· Programs
Your nominating committee will submit eight names, five officer and three director positions, for consideration by the membership and voting at the November 2014 General Membership Meeting and luncheon. However, to assist the new Board of Directors we would like to submit names of persons who may wish to participate on any of the above listed committees. Your participation can be arranged with the committee chair such that it does not interfere with work schedules, specific dates or times, or personal availability. I ask that each person identified in the salutation, who is not currently actively participating as an officer/director or an active current committee member, to consider becoming more actively involved with your personal participation.
